Have any of you shipped Nelsonite? UPS has not been helpful in this regard, sending me running to different facilities to keep getting "we can't ship hazardous materials here, you have to go to . . ." The website hasn't provided anything either.

Any info is really appreciated. Thanks.

Do google for Nelsonite Chemicals......they are located in Grand Rapids, Mich.
When I was using them, they shipped ground only through some trucking company but may have changed.........give them a call.

I am not sure it is all that hazardous regardless what another supplier of a similar material would like you to believe. The main Ingredient I believe, you would have to call the manufacture to confirm it, is linseed oil. If I remember right, when I bought it, it came by UPS. Your best bet is to call the manufacture though they can advise you correctly.

Mine always comes UPS and shipping is like 14.00. I've never tried shipping to another person so I don't know how difficult that would be. UPS stores are not owned by UPS but are pick up places. Anyone can have UPS stop at their store everyday or on a certain schedule. They pay a small amount for this service. If you take your package to one of these places, be it a packaging and shipping store or a grocery store or whatever, they charge whatever they want for shipping and then pay UPS whatever the true rate is. There are different regulations for shipping different items. Weight, size and material all affect the shipping charges. Many of these shipping stores only deal with commonly shipped items and don't want to go to the trouble and rules and regulations over something that may be a hazmat item.

Mine was shipped in the metal 5 gallon through UPS, but that's been a couple of years ago.

Thanks everyone. I bought the Nelsonite last year from Cue Components and it came UPS. Since they shipped the stuff alot in the past, I assume they have the arrangement already set up with UPS.

The plastic containers are still sealed on top (like they came from CC), but you can detect a slight smell of the liquid. It also says flammable on the side of the container. Because of that, it is considered hazmat and needs an MSDS declaration or something.

I suppose I could just try to package it so no smell gets out and take my chances by not telling them what's in it. But I don't need any grief from UPS or DOT.

Anyone want 2 gallons of Nelsonite? You just have to pick them up. :p
