Shoe polish on leather pockets

I have black leather pockets that are a bit worn and ugly looking inside and out. If I put black shoe polish on the inside of the pockets do you think it will get on the balls and then onto the felt? Or do you think after giving it some time to dry it shouldn't leave any residue on the balls?

Good quality cream polish

If you use a good quality cream polish that will penetrate into the leather, then be sure to wipe off all the excess and buff. You should have not problem.
