My son is 7 and has taken a liking to shooting pool. The regular 58" is way too long for him, at the pool hall they had shorter cues for use and it was better. I didn't get a chance to measure it, was wondering if there is a standard short size other than the 58"? Im considering getting a cue for him.

I considered letting him shoot with my jump cue but it has a very hard tip on it and plus the weight won't be right

Go on Ebay and type in youth cue. Youth cues can be bought in various sizes ranging from 36", 38", 42", 48" or 52".

Here is a 52" cue that I made for my son when he was learning how to play. Every cue I would build, he would ask me if it was for him. Well eventually I had to figure out the weight and the balance points on the cue. Basically just scale it down to fit him. Plenty of people could make you one if that is the route you wanted to go.

This one is 52" overall and 14.75 oz. It is curly cherry with wenge points, jatoba rings with an ivorline 4 joint and butt cap. Scaled everything down and the balance point is 2.5" above the wrap. I now carry it with me if I need a short cue for league. I get quite a few looks from people when I shoot with seeing how I am well over six feet tall.

We have a 42" and a 52" make of cues for children. And they're maple. Same design as our adult versions of those cues as well so it seems like an "adult" cue for your children
