Come on, where are all the new england pool fans. Why isnt anybody talking about Tom "Shorty" D'Alfonso

The kid just took 1st 2nd 1st in the last three joss events and also has a 6/7th and a 5/6th this year also. I know the joss tour isnt as strong as it used to be but its not a push over. The kid is under 23 years old and kicking ass.

Any Comments from you pool fans out there on this kid.

He's one of the strongest money players I've ever seen. Really calm, shows no emotion during a match, doesn't get rattled, and plays better and better as the session wears on. I think that his potential to become a top tournament pro is very high if he makes the right decisions.

Just waiting for you to start us off.

Nothing much to say about Shorty other than I have thought he is the best player in this area for quite some time now.

Sounds like the description of somebody the pool world could lose to Texas Hold'em. :D

Good luck to Tommy's continued success, he's a hell of a player.

He certainly can play for the cheese, and his stakehorse looks like he can kick you ass.

Thats a nice quality to have in a stakehorse :D

Woody <-- doesnt play well enough to need a stakehorse :(

Great guy and one of the very few I will let ride with me and share a hotel with. He also represents my cue well. Class act.

Tom “Shorty” D’Alfonso is indeed a great young player and I really enjoy watching him play.

A great match that comes to mind was when Shorty met Marlon Manalo in the second round at a Joss event that took place at Ultimate Billiard Club this past October.., Shorty was down 4 games in a race to 9 and came back to beat Manalo.., later that evening, Chalmer "Mhet" Vergara sent Shorty to the one loss side and Al Lapena beat him the following day..., Manalo went on to win the event.

Today, one may look at this 23 year old kid that stands about 6 feet "Tall" (or more) and wonder where he got a nickname like "Shorty".., well, at one time Tom D'Alfonso was a "short" little kid that spent countless hours at the Green Room Billiard Club in Uxbridge, MA., and this "short" little kid started shooting pretty well.., Paul Rota shot out of that same room and it was Rota that gave young Tom the nickname "Shorty".

I remember Rota would take this "short" little kid and enter him in many weekly events in the area.., In fact, I recall a time when I was playing in a well attended weekly "B" event in Franklin, MA, and I watched this "short" little kid take a pretty good B-Player to the hill but lose on a scratch.., later I said, "Hey Shorty, you shot pretty good against that guy, he's a good B-Player and you almost beat him"..., then this all serious little kids says to me, "He's a B-Player!!.., Well then I must be an A-Player!!.., and he just walked away shaking his head...

Anyway, if you like to watch a good match or two, do yourself a favor and come to a Joss event and see this young gun play.
