Shout-out to Shelby Custom Cues for my first "real" Kielwood shaft!

I decided to post here since this isn't really a review. Also, I put real in quotes because I do have a FUZE hybris Kielwood shaft, but this is pure dark roasted maple and just seems more legit.

I met Shelby Williams yesterday as I picked this up directly from him. Very nice guy! A very nice cuemaker, as well, based off photos I have seen. In one of those photos I saw a couple of his deep brown Vertex (just what he calls his shafts) shafts and thought "I bet that would look good on my Jacoby Earth cue!". Since he's local to me, I decided to have him make one for the Jacoby. Wow! I'm so glad I did! It looks great with the Jacoby and its organic woodsy toning, but even better - it plays beautifully! It's everything I had hoped it would be. It also looks and plays well on my Sawdust Custom.

It came with a Thoroughbred medium tip. I really like it a lot and even after hours of play there's no mushrooming.

I imagine any good cuemaker can make one of these and that it will be just as good, but I now personally know that Shelby Williams can. Hopefully I can one day get an actual cue from him. I'm gonna have to start saving now though.

ps - I'm not the only one who loved the Jacoby/Vertex combo. I let a Cuetec Cynergy cue user shoot with it a while and almost didn't get it back. He really wanted to buy it from me.

Shelby is a great guy to deal with.

I bought a used cue of his off the For Sale forum here and asked if he would make me an additional 4oz shaft and joint protectors. He came through on both in a timely, professional manner. Recently, informing him I was playing in the International Open One Pocket (admittedly dead money), I offered to wear one of his patches on my tournament shirt and he's been gracious enough to send me a couple of batches after the first disappeared into USPS lala land.

Top notch guy to work with.
