Simonis cloth

Has anyone ever gotten a cut of Simonis Cloth with the simonis embroidery on the rail cuts? I ordered a cut of 860hr(they screwed the HR part up on top of it all) from one of my wholesalers and it came precut. Now having personally made the mistake of cutting the wrong side myself and having the Simonis name on the railcuts, I know that they should have known better. When I called them they said this is standard. Can anyone agree to this? I think it is total BS and want some other peoples opinions about this. Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Used to be the norm when Simonis had writing on both edges of the cloth. It is no big deal. If your customer does not like it take a scrap piece of cloth and make it a little damp. Then rub the logo off. It is only chalk.

more to the story.

Well since I have more to ask here is the situation:

Supplier not only messed up on the rail cuts, it was supposed to be 860HR. My client was at the time cool about the mistake and allowed me to complete the job with the cloth at hand. Now after calling my supplier the following week and discuss the issues at hand: The first issue is not provably wrong on their part, here say on both sides. So because there is no way to prove I said HR, I decided to start emailing my orders in to avoid error on my end. Second issue was the provably wrong part in my opinion, i.e. the rail cuts of cloth with Simonis on it.

Now, I forgot to call my client back to discuss the outcome of my conversation with my supplier. I admitted wrong and apologized for my error. My problem is: the customer not one time asked me the outcome of my conversation with the supplier about the error for the cloth and rather was yelling and screaming at me on the phone about me forgetting to call him.
In my defense on that part I did text him a week ago asking him how he was enjoying his table.

In the end lesson learned. The job was 3 weeks ago. Please be constructive about your opinions and criticism's as I have already admitted my mistakes in the matter and really would like some advice.
Thanks

Simonis says it is a laser burn.

Not trying to be right, but, Felice @ Simonis says it is a laser burn. Just need to make sure I never have this issue again. To focus on the positive: I just made my installer / Simonis direct deal and will NEVER have this issue again! Factory direct is the best way to buy!!! :)

I can assure you that BW cuts the cloth correctly and has always done so, the cloth has always been cut with the logo on the rails and should be set to the bottom side of the rail. The bolts come from the mill with the logo laser-printed, if you order it from felice all they'll do is remove the logos from the cloth for you or cut two rails from drop, most 9' tables are cut from 78" bolt which is wide enough to get a rail set and bed cloth from one width of the 78" bolt.
Even if the 9' set was cut from a 66" wide bolt you will still get a seam side, so basicly the only way to prevent from getting a rail piece with the no printing would be to cut rails from long grain drop or so you hope'
There's more to cutting cloth than you think, there is a reason for two different width bolts.

just off the phone with simonis rob

Again, I am not trying to be right and not sure why you are insisting I am wrong> I JUUUUUST got the information from Felice @ Simonis and the tournament blue cloth is a laser tag. :) It did in fact used to be chalk. You may still have some that is chalk, but, you can call Simonis @ 18007466647 to verify. She was very nice in explaining to me that some company's who resell their product cut and ship it that way. She said if I wanted no Simonis laser tags to specify when I order from her. Thanks!

Trent

ps. Rob if you read my post, you would have also read: The rails came pre-cut from my OLD supplier:)

Probally would have been best to call Felice from the beginning. Billiard Wholsalers cuts all the rails so you do not have to deal with the bed cloth until you need to.They are also the same or less in price. For whatever it's worth.

I understand that Rob.

I Have the diagram and have cut the cloth myself in the past and made the same mistake. I never said who the wholesaler was and who it was not. None the less I have ordered from cue and case, the do not pre cut their cloth and I did the same thing and cut the wrong side. I had 3 cuts with me and opened a second and did it the right way taking all six rails from the side just like the very helpful diagram they send with the cloth. So why is it that you keep trying to point out that I am wrong??? I mean really, lay off. I asked for constructive criticisms and not "There's more to cutting cloth than you think" . I addressed this in my original post so we could avoid this. I think I have a problem solver: DID I EVER MENTION I PREFER CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR EDITION 30/30 over all other worsteds? I like that I NEVER HAVE TO DEAL WITH SUCH AN ISSUE>. Always cut properly and never have ANY issues with a "learning curve" with their product. Now I know and it will never happen again. These are lessons that I am not upset about learning about Simonis. I know lots of people prefer it and that is why I sell it to them when they choose it over 30/30.

Thanks

In your first post you said you received the cloth cut wrong , then you latter said you cut it wrong...who's to blame...?I'm confused... No problems here, I'm only trying to help.
Why do you prefer 30/30 over simonis? Because of the print...?

I learned my lesson :)

2 separate situations (original issue and MY cue & case mistake) and I was demonstrating that I had made the same mistake myself and FIXED IT MYSELF> So I must have a grasp on how the stuff can be cut with out the simonis laser tag there. I am aware that there are 2 sizes of bolts of cloth (I had already discussed all of this with Dick) None the less, I got it figured out. Thanks for your help.
I prefer 30/30 over 760 because it is close to the same wool to nylon content percentage wise, it is double layered and 24 ounce, and easier to work with. The not having to worry about cutting it part makes it nice to. I am not the "DO EVERYTHING SINGLE STEP MYSELF" kind of guy, if it saves me some time and is the same price or close, I will go with precut rails. Just only from specific companies now. The best way I have discovered is the buy it by the bolt and cut it as you need it so there are no fold lines in it from being stored. But is $$$$$$$$$$$.

If they ask for Simonis I do not argue, I simply ask what color :)
I am still learning and will probably post something stupid like this again. You don't know until YOU DO! :)
Thanks for the input and I appreciate everyone putting up with my rookie/ silly mistakes :)

Yes, We all make mistakes :)

I have made the mistake of cutting the wrong side and ending up with simonis logos on the bottom of 2 rails:) Mistakes happen :) If you read the original post. I did not cut it, it came precut. I WAS TOLD THIS IS TOTALLY INDUSTRY STANDARD BY MY OLD SUPPLIER OF SIMONIS. I never said I was perfect and have been very open about my time and experience in this business. I have learned a TON of stuff from this forum and appreciate the resource.
Some think having the Simonis tag under the rails is ok, personally I do not. I will post the pictures of the 8 foot Anniversary I am installing tomorrow morning (: CHAMPIONSHIP 30/30 :) in Bridgewater, New Jersey that I "restored", we just dropped the slates off at the clients house about 2 hours ago. :) I also have a nice surprise waiting for me on Long Island tomorrow afternoon and will post pictures of that as well!!! :)

Marketing is wonderful.....that's why everyone thinks I'm a jerk on here anymore......everyone on this mechanics section anymore is offering every job needed by everyone asking.....just so they get the job.
The sad thing about doing that is the people on AZ are here trying to receive the best work available.....and paying good money trusting that their getting just that......sad thing is their not getting a good job.....and what's even worse is that by them getting the work done by some on here asking for the job....convinces that pereson he has a perfect table.
When most on here don't know a good job or just and OK job.
Problem is most of the so called mechanics now on this site....should learn how to repair tables and RAILS first......then offer services.
90percent of the guys on this site try to make friends with Glen so he can recommend them for the jobs or answer the questions you have after you land the job.
Myself.....I spent years and years learning how to.....hours and hours with others learning the trade......I never tried to land jobs and then ask how do I do it.
Learn the pool tables....learn the right ways to set up tables....
Just look at the guy on this site offering work now.....all the really good mechanics left this site arguing with Glen.
I'm not going to give their names....some still post occasionally....but most are gone.....bottom line....if you don't understand the job....stop offering your services just to get paid.....cause all your doing is doing a job for someone that's not sure if the jobs good or bad.....but since they found you on here posting....they feel it been done the right way.
Glen marketed himself as the rail guy and has the knowledge to suggest a rail guy on this site......and the people on here trust his word....as they trust my word as good....so everyone wants Glens friendship so he will give them props so they can land jobs.
Glens wrong on doing that....and we spoke about it....but Glen is Glen and no one's going to tell him anything.
Glen says I don't do the whole table....I would like to know who's falling me around doing all my tables I get done....who sets up the Centennails I refinish. I do all my own work....rebuilding tables...setting up tables...and without a doubt I do the best RAIL work offered by anyone

Pay your dues learning the trade....then offer the work you can do correctly....that way the guys on this site know their getting what they're paying for.....not just cause the so called mechanics on here say look what I've done...here's my pics.....I can do what you need.

I am doing good installations and restorations:) I have a huge amount of respect for both you and Glenn. I do not need to make friends with anyone to get business and that is more than obvious. As for knowledge, advice and opinions, I feel very blessed to have access to such a huge knowledge base. I bust my ass on every move, install and restoration I get involved in. I am not perfect and never claimed I am. Having fun and meeting new people in the business all the time!!! So I am not sure whether you are halfway or completely talkin about me: I post pictures of every table I complete!!! I post them because I am proud of my work and like to keep a nice online photo album for whomever likes to look at interesting Brunswick pool tables:) I also know who does excellent rail work and the hardest workin traveling mechanic out there to!! So now I gotta go post pics of today's hard work: model d-c Anniversary:)
