I have the wood-backed slates for a Gold Crown in a cold garage, but the table is going in a temperature-controlled basement. Will there be an issue with expansion/contraction after setup?

I do not know about the slate, but the wood should acclimate to the warmer temperature.
When trimming out a house, it is proper to leave the trim in the heated house for a week to ten days before installing.
It makes a great difference as to stabilizing the wood from expansion and contraction.
