AMEN,,,don't like jump cues,,,casual players think they can jump like a pro,,,just mess up the cloth on my tables !!!,,,,bring on/bring back the two shot foul !!!!!!!

i agree with the no jumping by casual players. if done correctly the tip will never touch the table......but very few of the casual players perform a jump shot correctly.

its funny how some people don't think the jump cue should be legal.........yet they change cues to break with. some may say that the jump cue makes the game easier. but so does a break cue, unless it has the same configuration as your playing cue, most do not, they have a different tip, or have a sledgehammer style tip, which is making the break easier for the person. just as a jump cue makes jumping easier. i for one love the phenolic "sledehammer" tips, as being a little guy, it makes breaking alot easier for me.

as far as the jump cue, i can take it or leave it. if i think i have a good chance at making the ball if i jump i will take the jump. if i'm looking at playing a safety, i'll usually kick.sometimes the kick is easier, sometimes the jump is easier. when someone starts complaining about me jumping, i just tell them "if you'd played the safe right, i wouldn't be able to jump, hell for that matter if you'd played it right, i'd be kicking 2 or 3 rails :D "

learn to do both, kick and jump well, as both are necessary.

thanks

right on mike

:D :D :D I agree with you mike, it takes someone with know how of the angles to kick, just hard down stroke to jump , to me a kick is a lot pleasing shot than jump.love to watch the magazin shoot. STICK :D

you know what would solve all of this, making break cues and jump cues illegal. then you hafta use your playing cue for everything.

It will never be illegal, simple as that. I see lots of guys losing the cue ball when breaking with the SH. Without a stroke, nothing can help...they look even worst with better equipment, why ban them?

That will probably be true, And i have seen alot of guys with SH or anything with a Phenolic tip on it scratch more often because you have such a fine line of a good hit or bad hit.

My viking has the ferrule/tip combo and it took me a while to figure out how to break without scratching or having the cue fly off the table. But even now i would say outa 10 breaks i probably scratch or have the cue fly off about 2times.

Now i dont know if anyone would do this, but it would make things very interesting. Hold a tournament where u can only use your playing cue.

Do you all know that you can play jam-up pool with the phenolic tip? I tortured TWO UPA pros and an artisitic champion for over three hours playing with a Fury J/B on a bar table in Vegas last year. I was running out from everywhere, drawing my ball, following my ball and I made a point of NOT using the jump portion to jump with. The phenolic tip is simply another tool to play pool with nothing more or less. It allows for the jump shot to made somewhat easier much the same way that chalk makes it easier to apply spin to the cue.

It is ridiculous to whine about the jump cue. Just play pool. Let the other guy use whatever he wants as long as it doesn't make the shot for him and doesn't harm the equipment.

I don't see where anyone is whining about anything. We're just stating our opinion. Just like you are.

I know that. My friend has a sledgehammer and it plays just fine. Except for the awful noise. The really awful noise.

Oh, how I would have loved to have been there in vegas. One Pocket Chump, huh? I doubt it. ;)
