We have a local family entertainment center here, bowling, arcade, and pool. Just recently changed ownership, and the new folks have been making improvements.

They announced on their Facebook page that they were changing the cloth on the tables (WAY overdue), giving folks the ability to vote on two different choices. Yesterday, they announced the winning color, and then posted a photo of the balls they planned on buying (again, way overdue, replacing them).

To my horror, they had a photo of the Aramith set with the pink 4 and purple 5. I gently explained that to people who were used to the colors that have been used for decades, these balls could confuse things. Gave the SVB/US Open match example.

This morning, the agreed, and changed the photo to a different Aramith set with traditional colors.

I'm a happy guy.

What kind of cloth is going on?

Can't remember the specific version, but Simonis. The choice was between different shades of blue. Euro or Electric, I believe were the choices, I liked electric, euro won, if I recall. Just so long as they replace it, with some version that is at least Simonis, I'm happy. Those tables had been quite rough, for a long time.

I feel your pain. The largest pool hall in my area had crappy 1960's tables (I don't even remember the name) and RIDICULOUS tan cloth. Over the last 3-4 years they have moved to all diamonds and either tournament blue or gray Simonis, a much needed change.

I'm impressed that they are investing that much in the balls. Even the pure pool halls don't typically the super top of the line stuff, it's usually 1 step below that.
