Smith & Nelson Ltd Leeds cue info needed

I just picked up two one piece snooker cues in my travels. One of them has a small circle badge that reads Smith & Nelson Ltd Leeds, a 16A on the forearm and a one piece tube case. It is rosewood into nice tightly grained ash. The points are sharp as are the bottom of the points. I can't seem to find much info. I can post pics if necessary. It feels like old wood.

I saw those, but mine just has the button or what ever it's called, where the badges are on the cues in the pics. Not much info on the web for snooker cues it seems.

Hi. You won't find much on plain machine spliced cues with only the circular discs, these fall into what many people term as club cues, i.e. the type found in snooker halls, bought in with the retailers badge on by shops up and down the country and sold at the bottom of their ranges. The cue was made by Peradon, date wise, sometime post 1960s by the stamp. I think the info on my site is quite mis-leading (not that I would argue with Peter Ainsworth who has forgotten more about the history of the game than I will ever know!), while the company name was officially changed in '79 to be smith and nelson limited, I have seen cues with the badge you have which clearly date much earlier than the late 1970's - so it's safe to assume the short name was used significantly earlier than the offical change, Hope this helps. Mike
