I was wondering if anyone could suggest a cuemaker who makes a god knockaround pete. I had posted a thread on this before but I cant find the damn thing. Also I was wondering for those who know, in general, when a cuemaker makes a pete using a regular house cue, do they use the whole thing and just add a joint or do they just use the butt and make a new shaft? Thanks.

Kieth Josey makes one dam good SP for around 300.00 and a fancy one for around 350.00. I have one and it is the best workmanship/ value you could ever ask for from a Cuemaker! It plays/hits great!

Piglit's idea sounds pretty good. I had a cuemaker match a Dufferin Butt to my 314. total cost was $260 plus another $20 for a Moori. But then I purchased the 314 locally and he charged me top dollar. ($220) Sometimes it doesn't pay to try and patronize the local dealer.

If you really want to hide it match a 314 to one of those Jack Daniel $29.95 butts. And of course sand off the 314. So many people now claim not to like the 314 you might be able to pick one up for $100.

But then why would you want to have a Sneaky Pete? Surely in this day and age you are not going to go around and try to hustle people are you?

It sems that eveytime I play, people comment about my SP. Then I just show them that it is just a Dufferin two piece. Not half as good as their Dale Perry. But what the hell, I don't play all that well anyway. Just average. But then I do play a lot of below average people so it does work for me. LOL.

But in my case it is just my cheap custom cue. I am not really trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes.

Besides, the way I look at it, any pro can take a curved house cue and clean my clock and who looks at the cue anyway, it's how a person shoots that tells the story.

Im not looking to fool anyone, I just like the way sneaky's look. Very simple yet effective. Im just looking for something to bring around when I dont feel like bringing my other cues. Really just a really good banger.

Getting Back into pool

I'm looking to start playing pool again after many years and the idea of a Sneaky with a custom shaft sounds like it might be just the ticket for me (never felt real comfotable with linen). Please post more suggestions of cuemakers or manufacturers.I figure I'll either go with a SP or go with a Fury JB with leather wrap.

I have two Bob Frey's and like them both. Real nice feel to them. I play with both and leave my other cues at home.

The best sneaky pete or "hustler" cue is, a custom, well made, hard hitting cue, with a solid shaft, that has "budwieser" or "Harley Davidson" somewhere on it. There are a few cue maker who make them. Any way you want, SS joint, WTW joint, wrap, ect...

About 10 years ago, I bought three, low end SP's from Muellers (They're cheaper if purchased in threes) and sold two to friends, so mine ended up costing me something like $30 or so. They were great cues for banging around and could be left in a car without too much worry. If you just want the look of a bar cue and the convenience of a 2-piece, Muellers is a good, economical choice.

A few weeks later, Scott Frost either won it from me or bought it for $50 (I forget which). We both made a good deal, imho. A couple of days later, he no longer had it.
