Snooker Cue Care

I just received my snooker cue, a Chinese made set labeled by Woods Cues. It is very nice for the money, I think. The ash shaft seems a bit dry. I've read that it should be oiled, and that snooker shafts are treated differently than pool cue shafts.

Any thoughts, recommendations, wisdom on this?

I know people that use Tung oil or boiled linseed oil.
...I use maple, so I can only give you that second hand info
