I was wondering if you could help. Im thinking about getting a ash shaft made for my current player. I prefer one of those because maple turned down that low is whippy. So my question is should I get one made or am I better off getting a dedicated snooker cue? Thanks for your help.

one more thing

Why do they use brass ferrules? Is is to keep the end from splitting? Also is there special tips?

thanks

hi. i was a snooker player for years here in the uk before i started playing pool 18 months ago.

can't answer your question about the ferrule but the tips used here are either blue diamond or elkmaster. both are completely different to pool tips, much softer and not layered.

a few people use talisman soft but what is growing more popular is the mike wooldridge super tip. I use one, easily the greatest tip I've ever played with.
