Despite the downturn in snookers popularity in the UK.

"The Masters snooker tournament has been boosted with a new sponsorship deal ahead of the event at Wembley.
Ladbrokes Mobile will provide a prize pot of £500,000 for the world's top 16 players when they compete in the game's most prestigious invitational event."

I still believe that with the right person at the helm pool could get these kinds of deals.
 
The potential is there....just need someone to realize that potential and put it in action. Well Jay is putting something in action right now and hopefully it builds from there.
 
I don't hold as much hope for pool being a massive sport ie being on TV all the time etc. It isn't me being a sourpuss because I want it to be huge as much as everyone else, but when somebody like Barry Hearn pretty much turns down pool then there must be a reason for it.

Maybe I'm a little ungrateful for what is shown by Matchroom Sport, but when you think that the Mosconi Cup is the only live event shown all year on Sky Sports for pool then it turns into a joke.

The World Pool Masters and World Cup of Pool are poorly edited affairs in my opinion, and editing a pool match just takes away the character of a match for me. Yes there has to be time restraints but diving into a semi-final from 3-1 just loses the tension.

That's without the completely ridiculous idea that Barry Hearn doesn't want to host a World Championships so it's left to be played in Doha without any coverage!!!

I've seen the growth in darts and it frustrates me to no end because in essence, darts and pool both start in pubs and clubs. But the success of darts comes from the crowds being senseless lager louts and the 'football atmosphere'. You can't bring that to pool - look at the Mosconi Cup because that was bad enough. Imagine the players in a Darts atmosphere?

This is only the view of a pool enthusiast from the UK. I don't see/know what goes on in America. I just hope that this great game gets the exposure it deserves.
