I've been buying wood for cue building for 3 years, took precision machining classes and done a good bit of studying. After some deep thought and a couple of long conversations with some cue makers, I've decided I probably will never be able to build a cue worth a shit and the world doesn't need anymore hacks. This is what I've got left:
4 pieces of1.75"x18 birdseye rounds
6 pieces of 1.25" curly maple rounds
4 pieces of 1.75"x30" curly maple rounds
1 piece 1.5"x36" curly maple square
6 pieces of 1.5"x18" purpleheart square
1Paduk, 1 bubinga 1.5"x18" squares
1 1.5"x32" bocote round
for shipping purposes I want to sell it all to one person. 250 dollars and we'll split the shipping or best offer. All good wood from Bell, Goose Bay, and I think there's some from Murray Tucker in here too. PM me or email at: rebecca3@localnet.com

Thanks
Andy

Andy I think you are underestimating your abailitys but I admire someone that can step back and evaluate his skills and abailitys.
Cuemaking is not for everyone and if money is the reason to start doing it dissapointment will soon follow.
At least you had an adventure trying something new and learned some new skills that will surely be of some use to you in the future.

I have a habit of being extremely hard on myself. I want to get into cue building (and held on to a good stack of wood) not for the money at all. Mostly because it bothers me that I don't build cues if that makes sense. I just need to step back a little bit and work on my machining skills for awhile. I look at it like I have a 5 year waiting list...lol. If I spend another 3 years and still haven't prgressed, then it will done. I get frustrated with myself but don't give up very easily.

Andy, what you really need is someone that you can work with and learn cuemaking.
I dont think taking a machinests class will teach you how to make a cue.
It cant hurt to know all that stuff and I am sure some of it could/would apply but cuemakers work with wood ... machinests work with metal.

Grab some of that wood and come on down to Corpus Christi, Texas for a week and lets make some sawdust in my shop.
I would be glad to show you what I know (might not even take a week <grin>)
Worst can happen is you leave with a new cue.
