My friend has a cue that we think is an old southwest, but the points are something i've never seen a southwest cue. Everything on the cue looks typical. The points on the cue are what look like ebony veneer style points in the maple forearm something i've never seen in a southwest cue. But everything is normal to me. What is the best way to identify the cue before sending it to southwest for identification. In other words what do I look for to identify it

Sir, I believe you should look @ the pin, it sould come w/ the little cactus, try to double check 1st on some pics from around here, try a search and surely you'll find what im talking about.
Hope it helped you.

Rick:)

i know about the cactus on the pin, but the older ones do not have the cactus on the pin I will get some pics and post them. Also the rubber bumper is threaded in the butt.

Oh, wow, ok so probably you know more than me anyway:o
But yeah, post some pics and the AZ'ers will tell you all about it, just a little pacience and time and you'll see, lots of offers too :D
Good luck ! Rick.

Only the later SW cues had cactus or #'s on the pin. I have two SW (circa 1987 and 1992) and neither shows plants or numerals on the pin.

As for the veneers of the cue mentioned, I have seen SW's with that type of veneer, so there is no reason for that feature that it isn't a SW. But to be sure it's best to cough up the $75 and get it authenticated by Laurie.

Photos on this board would help. Closeups, in focus. Do it on the Cue Gallery, where a lot of knowledgeable cue buyers, brokers, and maker hang out.
