Hello
I have a Southwest Satin and I want to install a predator extension system bumper. I have done this for all of my cues. That way 1 extension works for all.
What is the pros/con on this process. I know it has that glue seal in the end of the butt. Thanks for the help.

Big time negative side.
If you do it. Southwest won't work on the Cue anymore.
So I'm told.

Other that, you would have to modify the bottom and thread it for the Predator bumper
M16x1.5 which uses a .570 hole. And eliminate the existing countersink from the original bumper so it's now flat.
I'm sure some have threaded the .620 hole that Southwest uses for thier own bumper.
Does it hold up,
I don't know.
Good luck

Thanks Mike for answering, I have the drill and tap for the install of the bumper. It was more about cutting into the glue seal a little bit to get the depth for the bumper. I did not want to hurt the integrity of the cue.
Thanks again for your time and help.

There's a bolt under that seal, as it's part of thier construction for the butt sleeve. I just don't remember how far in it is,
so be careful!
If you also have a bottoming tap, you won't have to go as deep.

I will be careful. I think just a little bit into the glue seal will be enough. Thanks again for your help.

Mike do you have any Merry Widow butts for sale 3/8x10 pin ? I have plenty of shafts. Thanks

If one of your cues comes up let me know. I like dark wood plane janes. Thanks again

Positive: you make it your own
Negative: you destroy the value and take a significant loss if you ever sell it

I don't know what all the hype is about SW anyway. It's just a cue. If you can't play with it what do you do with it.
Tommy Kennedy is playing with one and he doesn't even have a bumper on it.
Thanks for all the info on installing and on ruining the value. I just like to play with my cues, someone might be getting a killer deal when I get rid of it. 👍 I will post pictures when I get done.

I have an idea if you haven't done it yet.
It's not totally out of the box but it might work.
Make a split bushing to go inside the butt, tap it for a set screw. Tapered from thick to thin at the bottom inside the butt so when you press it in, the set screw will open the split section creating internal pressure, locking it in place.

Then have it long eneogh to have a 1 inch longer than the butt and tap that long eneogh for your extension bumper.
Crazy but not so crazy and you won't hurt the value of your cue.
BIG DOWN SIDE
If you miss a shot and slam your Cue on the floor.
YOUR FOOKED. Lol
PS
Only taper and split the section that goes inside the butt!
At least, 2 slits!!!

Thanks for the idea, I think I am going to play with it like it is for a while. I have done every cue I have owned this way and everyone that has bought my cues have been happy to get it that way.
Sugartree, Carmelli, Capone Barnhart, PK Customs, Shelby Williams. Most cues come ready now. When Cody Cash (PK Customs) built my cue he tapped it during the build. (Very nice guy to work with)
Thanks again Mike for taking time out for me, and your insite on making this work. Nice talking with you. Big 👍I will be keeping my eye out for one of your cues to try. So far I play 95 percent with my Sugartree.
Split bushing is a thought. I can't believe that making a cue more playable would ruin the value. I guess I better not even get into lengthening the wrap conversation. Thanks again

If you want, I have some great 3/8-11 cues and can build one with an extension for you. I'll buy the pacifier butt and you'll have the custom touch you're looking for

Thanks again for your help and input. I appreciate the offer, I will play with the SW a little more then make a decision on what will choose to do.
No matter what, it's still a SW pacifier/Satin.
I have made poor decisions before 😂, marriage now that cost some $$$$$$$$.
Thanks again.

Hi everyone I talked with Laurie at SW. She said it would not kill value of cue, and no problem authenticating cue for adding a extension bumper. I sent her pictures of inside of bumper and the sticker info (19.5 1 ) 19.5oz and number 1 in the series of cues built at the time, she said probably 10. Laurie Franklin at SW is a class act and very helpful. Took time out of her day to answer my emails too.
I will post pictures when I get done. Thanks again.

Extension system done. I like tapping the short 3 inch extension too so you can stack them.
Thanks again for all the info.
