last night i was playing in a night scotish doubles 9b tournament, and on the sideway's there where several small fun tournaments, and one was speedpool.

rules:
u break , if u scratch u get ball in hand in the kitchen.
after u stroke the first ball AFTER the break shot time begins to run.
if u miss, u just continue shooting untill all 15 balls are gone, like in straightpool. if u scratch, u got to take the ball out of the pocket, run around the table and touch the pocket where u scratched and take the cb back in the kitchen.

record time of last night was 57seconds by Xavier. ive done it in 2.21 :s was a bit disapointed, as im a really fast player. im sure i can get it to 1.20-1.30 if i gave it some tries. but my best time in 2 tries was 2:21. i actually like it alot :D

have any of you ever played it? what are your times?
maybe something fun to play abit during a training, and post your times in this post :D curious to see what others do.

The trick of speed pool is to stop the motion of the cueball as quickly as possible after every shoot. Shooting stop/stun shots as much as possible. I have never tried it. To me I don't really think it's pool at all. Just a gimmicky game for entertainment value.

I don't understand what people see in it.

To each his own I guess. I'd rather play traditionally accepted games that everyone plays with an opponent shooting the leave you have left them.

Might be fun, but it might hurt your usual, and very important, pre-shot routine, and will certainly reinforce any bad habits. Especially if your backswing is already too fast, or not straight. I agreee with renard, but I do see entertainment value for people that aren't trying to significantly improve their game.

oops maybe i didnt explain it well :D

i wasnt hoping people would actually play this game in matches or money or whatever :) it was just a side gimick on my last tournament, and i was wondering what time some peeps in here would do :) i tried it 2 times and lost my match after the speedpool , so u ARE correct it screws up your game. and its not something u need to train or so :) just fun thing to do, in your next practice if u have 57seconds :p free time and want a quick change and fun and post the times in here.

hard to think of stopshots etc when ur playing VERY fast, almost no time to see what ball u are going to pot next, but it was fun to play abit :D

i still think that xavier's time of 57sec is pritty hard to beat... thats +- 4 seconds/ ball.
