Heard that a local guy is one of four playing "speed pool" on an upcoming ESPN thing.....clueless, what the heck is it?
 
Rack up fifteen balls. Shoot them out in the least amount of time.
 
OK, I can see him being really strong at that (he flies around the table shooting regardless what game it is). GO McGrath!!!
 
Most probably the damned goofiest thing I've seen poolwise on TV.

IMO,this is one rung below trickshots.

I haven't seen it mentioned here on AZ so I can't speak for the whole,but thats dam sure my opinion.
 
I'd never even heard of it???? If it's like those guys who run and play golf....well, I feel ya. LOL

You're right. Watching Luc Salvas run out racks without missing a beat isn't entertaining.

Pool players are really funny sometimes. The industry is trying to generate more money. But the pool players continue to b***h and b***h. I'm sorry but watching straight pool is boring as hell. One-pocket is even worse. There's a reason why we see 9-ball and trickshots on tv. You are not their target audience. If you want more money, you need to appeal to the masses. They want trickshots and speed pool. They want hard breaks and god strokes. Believe it or not, they want to see kicks and banks. I say show the people what they want to see.

As mentioned,its just my opinion.

The point is I SHOULD be the target audience...there should be more "me's" though.

If the approach is anything is better then nothing then I'm game and I agree..but as a player I enjoy watching the games you call boring.It took a few years,but I get em...can't play a lick,but I know what I'm watching.

Go Bobby go!!!! I hope he snaps it off. It'll be tough though. The top speed pool guys are awful good.

I played it once years ago, walked into this bar with wife and they ask if i wanted to shoot in pool tourny?? i ask and said i would try as i had never heard of it befor, it was put on by BUDWISER BEER, as it turned out i won 2nd i think my time was 1;23 for fifteen balls won cooler. HA:confused: :confused:

I hit an unofficial 1:04 on an 8 footer (friends had a stop watch). Then again, I've probably only played about 10 times in my life. It is a lot of fun and can make you sweat...at least the way I play it can make you sweat. I run around like a chicken with its head cut off. :)
 
My understanding (since I have never played it) is there is a SPEED POOL tournament in Vegas. Not sure at what venue but guys/gals from all over the country enter and win $$$. And a Madden cue has won a few ;) in SPEED POOL:)

The trick is to shoot stop shot after stop shot if you can. You don't want to be waiting for that cue ball to roll around the table 5 times. I played with a group of friends and there was a time that one of my buddies got pissed and hit the object ball as hard as he could. The cue ball went flying off the table and down the stairs. I think his time ended up being about 4 minutes. :D I've never seen anyone get so pissed.
