Yes I also got excited when I saw a spool for $40 opening bid, until I read the description. But I think the picture was neccessary to prove it was coming off a spool of real Cortland.cubswin said:I like how what is in the picture isn't what is being sold....deceptive regardless of descritpion of item.

Jeff said:So since I have never wrapped a cue, could someone explain the 121 feet.
Will 121 feet do a wrap with absolutely no concerns?
What's an average length of linen to wrap a cue?
cueman said:My calculations on normal linen put on tight up against itself takes over 135 feet (45 yards) to wrap 12 inches. So cortland will need at least 150 feet to wrap 12 inches.
I just used estimated math. Here is how I figured it: Average wrap groove depth is 1.075"Michael Webb said:What did you use to measure. I used a spooling machine.
cueman said:I just used estimated math. Here is how I figured it: Average wrap groove depth is 1.075"
To wrap linen around one time is roughly 3.3755"
.025" linen takes forty rounds per inch if put on real tight up against each other. 40 x 3.3755" = 135.02"
12 inches of wrap should be 12 x 135.02" = 1620.24"
That comes out to about 45 yards.
This is if the linen is run on at 40 rounds per inch. I was guessing Cortland to run on a little finer. My math may prove wrong in actual application, but I can't imagine it being 50% off. I am still using the Older real Blue Mountain linen also. Hurlbert and some of the newer ones are thicker. So I would guess it would be one of those that you measured. Cortland is even finer than Blue Mountain.
