If you have a cue but dislike the stain on the birdseye forearm (in this case gray) is it possible to have the stain sanded out and have the cue re- stained and refinished without doing too much damage to the cue by decreasing the diameter?

It really depends on the cue, I just did a Heubler and all I did was scuff with 0 grade steal wool and the stain and finish came right off like butter, on the other hand if it's a McDermott your nightmare begins .020 plus just finish. Better to check with Mfg. and see what options you have.
