A feature on Aristeo "Putch" Puyat also known as the godfather of the philippine billiards.

some great stories and pictures through out the history of billiards in the Philippines.

I translated some of the stories that has related with pool..maybe some of my fellow Pinoys here can help me in translating the video

---------------

His grandfather was the one started the Puyat Sports. His grandfather was working for a Spanish guy as a carateker then eventually bought out the billiard halls when the Spanish people went back to Spain because of the war. Puyat sports eventually branch out into a furniture business.

HIs pool table is from the 60s. He got Reyes, Strickland and Bustamante cuesticks.

His brother a congressman back then asked permission of the government (during martial law) if they can broadcast some pool tournaments but declined at first because the government saw pool as a vice.

Discovered Parica because of gambling. Parica and his group approached the Puyats that they were planning to hold an international tournament but nothing was really planned. NO venue/tables/sponsors yet but Puyats set up everything. Held inside Ali Mall and Parica won that tournament. (efren wasnt in the tournament)

Battle of the Champions between Parica and Reyes 2 day event.. Race 30 or 36 and Efren won.

Discovered Bustamante during "World Open".. It was Busta and Parica in the finals but Busta lost because he just had appendectomy 3 days prior of the tournament.

The video also features Bustamante's house and Reyes' farm
