Straight Pool Scoring

If a player legally pockets five (5) balls during his turn and then on his sixth shot DOES pocket the called object ball and scratches. What is his point count for this inning at the table?

Possibilities

a. 5 points ( 6 balls made, - 1 point for scratch)

b. 4 points ( 5 balls made, 0 for o.b., -1 for scratch)

c. -1 point ( scratch nullifies all balls made that inning)

The short answer is B.

But the way to keep score in straight pool is to have two running scores, one for the frame and another for the total. Many tables have four counters grouped in pairs at the foot of the table. Scratches always come off the total count. The frame count represents the number of balls pocketed within that frame. Also, your frame count plus your opponents frame count plus the balls remaining on the table need to equal 15.

Exactly as Hustlefinger stated, and that OB would be spotted, hence allowing the ball count to be the same as on the counter.
