Such a weird game!

About 6 months ago I really committed to improving my game, and started really increasing my practice. While I saw some good improvement, the reality of a full time job and three little kids got in the way, and I had to back off my playing time to the leisurely level it is generally at. While I maintained some of the improvement, most of the trouble areas of my game quickly came back. I had developed an over grip of my cue somewhere along the way that caused misses and miscueing with hard draw shots that took a LOT of work to get rid of. That, unfortunately, was of course the first thing to return. It was interfering enough with my play, that I got so frustrated, I hardly wanted to hold a cue (which is very rare for me), causing my play to decrease to 2-3 times a week for about 2 weeks.

This past Saturday I had a bunch of guys over for the Jones V Evans fight. Of course we played pool, and I played some of the best pool I have played in a while. I ran out nearly half the games I played playing 8 ball, and completely controlled the racks I didn't run out. Then last night, I got down to play a few games before bed, and ran out 4 of the first 6 racks of 9 ball with only one miss in the other 2 racks each, and no miscues with all draw shots.

Its very frustrating to have my game go up and down like that. I wish I could bottle the stroke i've had the past few days, but somehow, it doesn't seem to happen. I've played a lot of sports in my life, and all go up and down, but none no so much as in pool.

i know what you are going through. it happens to me a lot.

some days i could give an a player the 8 out and some days i need a spot from an apa 2 :(

Most have the same experiences as you have!!

I have had days where I am just in dead stroke and can't miss if I tried.

Other days, I can't make two in a row.

I also have not been playing much for the last few months and just don't have much desire to play either.
