Sugartree vs Bill Mcdaniel

Narrowed down my search for a new player. q88 Mcdaniel in great condition and new Sugartree. Price difference is abour $500. but not the decidibg factor.I don't have the opportunity to try them out.
I can't decide. Any suggestions and thoughts ???

Never had or hit with the BM. However I have played and owned tons and NONE compared to the Sugartree's. I know its an opinion thing, but in my mind-that is a fact.

My current player is a Jim Pierce. I find it a great cue. Solid hit. I just wanted to get
something new. I feel like spoiling myself a bit as I just finished paying off my daughter's college loans.
 
If you decide to buy a McDaniel let me know .I have one I may let go. Also I have owned both. They both are nice stiff hitting cues. However I do prefer a steel joint.

I would consider the McDaniel to be more similar to the Pierce so I would suggest getting that one.

The sugar tree would be my choice. Mainly because it will have a much better resell value in the event you want to sell.

I vote McDaniel. Some of the best hitting cues ever made. If you pass on it, send me tge sellers info and price. Then I will buy it!
 
I tried McDaniel and it was something, pure awesomeness

Never tried Sugartree, but heard they are extremely stiff which I don't like. and also that they are overpriced alot
 
If the difference between a steel piloted joint and a flat face wood joint doesn't bother you, I would go for the look, or the price, or both.
I own both cues and I think my Sugartree's hit a little better.
 
Hard to go wrong with either. Both high quality cue makers. Pick the one that looks the best to you.
 
I'm originally from Jackson, Tn. and had the pleasure of meeting Bill on several occasions. Back in the 70's & early 80's, players would come through Jackson to check out his cues, and also to get a game up at Buddy's pool hall. Some of the best pool players I've ever watched in person would come through town and play our locals... Cecil Maxwell, Keith Hamilton, & Danny Green to name a few. I remember a guy named Steve Mizerak walked into Buddy's and beat Cecil to the point of tears. Those were the good ol' days!

Anyway, I consider Bill McDaniel cues to be the best on the market. I've played with a Sugartree on several occasions (never owned one), and I can attest to the "stiff hit" reputation they have. It's all in what you get use to... in other words, play every day for 6 months with a house cue and it will become part of your arm.

I'd say you're splittin hairs, but my money would be spent on the McDaniel.
 
No question Bill McDaniel Custom Cue. A players cue. Many champions played with Bill's cues. Not just my opinion. it's a fact.
 
My eyes lit up when I first played with a McDaniel I bought here. They still light up when I play with it. I bought another and a shop cue. I'm working on buying another one.
I haven't tried a Sugartree, though.........
 
Just want to thank all of you for your opinions and recommendations. They are helpful.I will post again which cue I did pick.
It certainly is a tough choice.c
 
It does seem like McDaniels sell pretty fast on here over the last few years. It's getting harder to find them. Of course STs have always sold pretty fast.
Haven't played with either enough to give my opinion though.

I decided on this Sugartree.. It's on the way.
