Never tried these tips but....

the Sumo layered tips are actually called Samurai. There may be pople who've tried the Samurai tips you're inquiring about but didn't know they're the layered version made by Sumo.

Nico thank you man I did not no that.Atlas has the samurai tips on sale. But the picture of the tips on the on the hill website that say sumo look like they might have a white pad on them look diferent.

The standard tip on a Mike Bender cue is a Sumo.
It is a pretty hard tip that does not mushroom much.
I have been playing with a Sumo (on my Bender) now since last summer and initially took me a while to get used to it.
Now the draw is effortless, the english action is smooth and the tip maintenance is simple.

Hope this helps,
Myron

Most tips come with a coating that looks like some kind of matte varnish. The white you feel looks like a white pad in my opinion is light from the cameras flash relecting back at the lens. If you look closer, you can see some darker spots that look like crevices that aren't reflecting light.

As far as I know, Sumo tips are solid black water buffalo with a bright orange coating. I've never seen actual Sumo layered tips before, but i could be wrong.:)
