My wife and I are fairly seriously considering moving to the North Port area of Florida. That's about a half hour south of Sarasota. So anyway, I'm wondering if anybody knows of any good pool rooms in this area or relatively close? I'll still need my pool fix after we move and I just prefer the 9' tables. Thanks in advance.

If you go to www.uspapool.com you can find a listing of pool rooms and some information about them. That site belongs to Mike Sprinkle and he tries to keep it updated as often as possible. Also you can check my website for info on my amateur events that I hold around Florida and will be expanding more begining next season. My web site is http://home/gate.net/~higgins3/

Neither, but both are good guesses. I'm actually a rabid Detroit Red Wings fan. Yes, that's right, I am one of the last 23 hockey fans on the planet.

I'd bet that very few have every heard of the Wichita Wings. However the Detroit Red Wings is in a very different class of franchise (other than still being active, an important distinction). They were the Victoria Cougars and Stanley Cup Champs in 1925, and a group from Detroit bought the roster in 1926. They played as the Detroit Cougars for 4 years, the first years home games being played just south of Detroit in Windsor Canada. Over the years they have had a lot of fans, myself included .. hey, Mr Hockey Gordie Howe is from a town just a couple of miles out of Saskatoon, and we have a big bronze statue of the great man downtown. It is always a big thing when Gordie comes back home, which he seems to do fairly regularly.

Well when you get down to Florida you may find a few more fans, they seem to travel down there for the hockey season :D . Some dates to remember :

Dec 15 2005, Wings play at Florida Panthers
Dec 15 2005, Wings play at Tampa Lighning

I'll bet that some of the Wings play a bit of pool, just to keep some relevance :D

The closest 9 footers are at Veteran's Billiards in Port Charlotte. Go South on route 41 to the Pier One store on the left corner of Veteran's Boulevard.
Turn left and go about one mile to Veteran's Billiards in a large white building on the left. They have about 10 - 9 footers and 3 or 4 bar boxes all with Simonis 860 and nice and clean. Open every day at 1 PM.
Tell Vito the owner that Wayne Agnew sent you. I'll be back from Pa. by October and then we can play some.
