Sweep Help

I finally figured out how to sweep correctly every single time. Well at least for me.

I'm right handed, and this method has worked very well for me, and so hopefully it can help anyone who's been struggling.

For both sweeps, I hold the cue horizontally across my mid-section at the start.

Right Sweep: After finding the fixed CB, I bend down until I'm about 3/4 set in my stance. Then I can rotate into CCB by rotating my grip hand behind me.

Left Sweep: Exact same thing, but I'll rotate into CCB by leading with my left shoulder and bridge hand.

Shouldn't a sweep be visual? They way you state sounds like a mix of manual and visual. If its working for you then that's all that matters.

If I use Pro One I will now just visualize the entire sweep whilst standing then a quick shuffle of my feet to get my right leg on the shot line and drop in with no twisting or rotating.

I noticed early on that it was very good to get me onto the shot line but when I was manual pivoting, twisting, bending, what ever you want to call it, I ended up on the shot line but it felt 'wrong' and uncomfortable. It was fine in practice because I was completely focused on fine tuning and ironing out any problems, so full attention was given to where I was on the CB. In match situations I wasn't paying much attention to it, so when I pivoted to CCB in mid air the final position was uncomfortable so I naturally got into a comfy stance and that moved me off the shot line.

You have to adjust any system in pool to your own technique and game. I also don't think people should copy any aiming system that is as visual as CTE Pro One by the book. We all see and interpret things different and Stan has set out a very solid aiming system in his DVDs and its up to us to fine tune it to our selves to reap the full benefit of it.

Pidge-

in your last sentence the way it sound, I might be wrong but you are correct about the whole Pro1/CTE everybody eyes, brain and body work is different way and different way of being comfty. I can't get the Pro1/CTE down at all. I am very accurate seeing center to edge line and I feel that the whole A,B AND C choosing is guessing to me.

Yes A,B, and C are aim reference for most of the shot but hard thin cut shot those gotta be shot at either left edge or right edge so those 2 need to be added along with A,B, and C. If I was aiming a ball to the left corner pocket then 15-25 degrees can be hit at Right quarter(C). My point is that the whole cue ball edge choosing at either A or B is pointless even if it on the same shot I describe to go into the left corner. Why worry about choosing A or B when really all gotta do is aim center cue ball or can aim center cue ball but same time I got the left side of shaft/ferrule at the right quarter(C) then shoot it. I think thinking about center to edge, choosing cue ball edges line A,B and C then pivoting and sweep is too much to think and stupid.

me I just look at angle and says okay I know which A,B or C to hit at then shoot. I already know my english shot and where cue ball gotta go. I only doing 2 things instead of 4-5 things Pro1 require.

So for a right sweep you rotate in arround your bridge hand (bridge hand doesn't move) and for a left sweep you rotate in arround your grip hand (grip hand doesn't move)?

Exactly. Since you're holding the cue with two hands, if you move one hand, the other hand will move as well.

Obviously, this isn't the only way to sweep, nor is the best. Just what has worked very well for me.

If possible, I'll try to record a video when I go play today.

A video would be awesome, if you can!
