For those thinking about changing the cloth on their tables, and undecided about colors or type, you might go to the Championship cloth site. Just
click on the 'Mix and Match' section. You can change table 'colors' as well
as 'cloth colors' to see how it would look. I have never been that big of a fan of Simonis (too easy to play on). I do like the Mercury Ultra cloth that
Championship has quite a bit. Most of our rooms here use it.

OK I'll bite why do you consider Simonis ( too easy to play on ) I don't have your years of experience, so give me an education on cloth types I'd really like to know.

In my opinion

Simonis is TOO FAST. It allows lessor players to play better because getting shape is easier since the cloth is so fast. Plus, I think balls skid more on Simonis, JMHO. Mercury Ultra is not slow, but slower than Simonis, and I think provides better all around playing conditions. Championship cloth is used on the Viking tour and by the BCA.

I had been away from (and have been) away from pool for awhile and the first time I played on fast cloth it was very hard to do anything. The balls skidded and rolled forever. I learned to play on cloth that was so nappy it looked like the felt you give kids to do arts projects.:o :D
However, I do see it as a matter of adjusting your game. Same with cushions, you just need a little time on the particular table to adjust.

Terry<liked playing on construction felt:p .
