Someone I know is trying to sell a table and they have no idea what it is...

No markings or name brand anywhere to be found, 3 piece slate. 9 footer, incredibly heavy... appears to be old.

Anyone recognize this?

Sorry, don't know the make, but, DAMN, that is a nice looking table.
Appears to be well built from what I can see of it.

no one has a clue what kinda table this might be?

and yeah, I agree steve its a good looking table I considered buying it myself but I really need to know more about it.

There are a few things about it that make me question it...

First, the trim around the legs is a different wood than the rest of the table.

Second, the legs themselves are simple box construction and the woods don't match particularly well. It is obviously a stained finish which is meant to mask the budget construction techniques.

Third, those appear to be plastic pockets?

Fourth, the applied panel decoration looks like it is done well enough, but it doesn't mask the fact that it is a cheap way of simulating a raised panel construction.

If I had to guess, I'd say it is a decent brand, but not more than 25 years old.

Quite honestly, this falls directly in the middle of the 'meh' category for me.

dld
I wish they were better pictures but I would add, the top rail is not really indicative of many older tables, (Antique), that would have leather pockets with the horse shoe design. It almost looks like Formica. That does not mean it is a bad table, I had an old Brunswick Sportking that had Formica top rails.

That type of plant on molding is fairly classy with the quarter circle corners, maybe not as nice as raised panels but not a slam dunk to do either, I've done it so I know:grin:

The large radius round corners on the legs is a nice touch and another sign of some level of quality

I know that if I built it I wouldn't be ashamed of the workmanship.

I think it's fairly bad a$$ if it's solid quality. I have a furniture table with claw legs, it's a 9 also but it's tricked out. Would hurt to trade out.

It did strike me that the base molding appears to be at different wood. Seemed odd.

If it really is old, and has been moved a few times, that molding could easily have been replaced over the years
