i just bought a 9 foot gc2 and need a light
im posting this here since i assume you guys have the most experience to answer my questiom
i know i can get a 4 lamp light from many companies
any companies considered "the best" ie reliability and well made product??
what is available in professional lighting and what would be the cost??
you know those rectangular light fixtures
or is there other options??
i know its in my home and not in a room but i dont want to blame the lighting on how i play:D

function is more important than style
if i can get both all the better
thanks for your replies

When you say 'a 4 lamp light' I suspect you mean a bar style light with 4 shades, but I am not sure because our Diamond lights also have 4 bulbs. The big Diamond lights are great, with (4) 8' bulbs in each fixture and a 4'x8' frame and light diffusers that look great and light up the table as well as any I've seen. I agree with 'dontlitethat' in that the Diamonds would be my first choice, but you can experiment with any light you choose by picking different 'color' bulbs. If you get flourescent 'twisty' bulbs for your fixture, you should be able to find from 2700k up to 6500k color bulbs, and they are very different. We use 6500k in the pool room, and I'd reccomend 3500k or 5000k at least for the best light. You can find them at Home Depot or Lowes, or even Wal-mart, and if you try a few you're sure to see what a difference good light makes for your table.

6,500 actually starts to get a little too blue. I would recommend 5000-5500 Kelvin. Mostly you will find 5000 at Home Depot and Lowes marketed as "daylight".

I had a 4 fixture light with 75 watt soft white bulbs over a GC4 and it
gave off to many shadows for my taste. Went to an 8' neon 4 tube mounted 54"
above the playing surface using only 2 bulbs (outer ones) worked fine.
And, it was somewhat less expensive than the other light.
The table was flat black with chrome trim and pocket castings. So, I sprayed the outside of the fixture flat black and got some chrome car door edge trim and ran it the length of the light on both sides and WHELLA !
Matching light.
