table speed

I own 2 tables, 8' and 9' Brunswicks. I have 860 installed on each, and, they are level. When I take my break and playing cue shafts and put them against an end rail to create a ramp and then let the cue ball roll I get 25" of roll in one direction and 30" of roll in the other direction. This is true on each table. Are 860 cloths somewhat directional? Is there a standard length of roll for properly installed 860? (I use 13mm shafts with the joint against the rail and the tips pointed down table) Also, my local pool room tables have Tour Edition 3030 and roll almost 36" which I attribute to the fact that they are worn shiny. Is there a better way to measure cloth speed? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Joel

This sounded interesting, so I gave it a try. I have a 9-foot Brunswick with 3-month-old 860 on it. In one direction, the ball consistently rolled 35 inches, and in the other direction it was 33 inches. Don't know what it means, but there it is. (the shafts were 12.75 mm)

interesting... I used 13mm shafts so maybe a little less steepness... I'm just thinking when I go to a new place to do a quick speed test so that in my mind I know the cloth speed, I do it across to check table speed w/rails coming into play

I sent a note to Simonis and asked them if there were any directional differences in 860 like in their snooker cloth

The clothed was pulled from end to end. There is an anchor end and a strech end. One end will be tighter than the other. If a stretch index was used this does not happen. This is my opininon. I am sure others have other opinions on this.

Thank you, that is very interesting. I would have thought that if one end is anchored and the other stretched then the cloth would stretch equally over the entire length. If I understand you correctly, you are saying is that is not the case.
