Taking a break

So I took a break from pool for a few weeks. It was due to the fact that I am a college student and had finals, but that is another story since I am currently 33. Anyways I am done with finals and decided to go hit some balls this afternoon and as expected it did not go all that well. I was playing on a shimmed Gold Crown and just could not make balls that I normally hit dead center of the pocket. I think most of it has to do with fundamentals.

A couple guys I regularly shoot against were there so I matched up right away. These are guys that I typically have the nuts against and I just could not get ahead to save my life. Had I been there alone I would have focused on some drills to get back in stroke. I know that I am going to have to take some time over my break here and hit some balls. Hopefully I can get a few lessons from a very good local player that owes me a few.

Anyways I wanted to talk about the only bright spot that I had today. Since I was not able to go hit any balls while getting ready for finals I did watch a few videos. The videos I watched focused on banks. There was one game where I banked 5 balls in the course of getting to the 8. The 8 was a fairly simple cut to the side or I could bank it. Having just banked 5 balls to get there I said if I miss this cut the only thing that I will think is that I should have banked it. Bank it was and I just drilled it perfect. The guy I was playing against said "Thanks for the clinic".

City tournament coming up Jan 2. Hopefully I can get in stroke before then.
