Talisman Water Buffalo tips

Are these tips designed for playing or breaking? They seem very very hard to me, even to a point that I cannot shape them with a Cuetec Bowtie because it is that hard.

They don't seem to be marketed as break tips, hence why I ask.

Are crushed elkmaster milk duds a better option for a hard tip, or would anyone recommend a cut down Talisman WB? It's going onto a 314/2 shaft if that makes any difference whatsoever.

as a joke, years ago i had a "friend" cue maker repair guy put on a water buffalo without telling me what it was. i asked him to put a le pro. let me put it this way, i was just posting about how much i hate everest layered tips..... this water buff tip was twice as bad. i dont know if they are for breaking, but they should be. i think they are designed for miscuing myself. i actually have one on my jump break and love it there.

all i recommend nowadays are triangles. i havent tried all the layered tips, i dont even feel i need to to be honest.

talisman tips

The WB tips are very hard. I had some that were marked Medium, but were almost break tips!!! Believe it or not, They make a break tip that is leather, but you would swear it's phenolic!!!!

If you are going to try milk duds, I would get them from username: pooldawg8. I'm not sure how he does it, but when he presses them, they don't "mash out". In other words, he starts with a 14mm and ends up with a 14mm. All the pressing is truly compacting the tip and making it more dense. Some of the best I have ever used!!! That's my 2 cents worth anyway!!!

In all honesty, try several tips and you will find what is best for you!!!

They are designed as a "playing" tip. I've used a couple of them over the years and I never had a problem with miscueing whatsoever. They are a little firmer than the Talisman pro.
