Hey All!

Bob's Grandmother passed away last week and I have been in Florida working on all the estate stuff. Looks like I'm going to be here another 2 weeks... Where are some good places to stop in and play some while I am here?

There are at least a dozen good poolrooms in the area. Where are you staying specifically (Clearwater, Tampa, Brandon, Town 'n Country, etc.)?
When you say "play some', what do you mean ? Are you an A,B,C, player or a Pro ? Are you in the BCA, APA, etc. and what is your favorite game ? Do you play in tournaments ? There are MANY here in this area. There was an 8-Ball tourny today at Planet 9-Ball for B & C players, $2 entry, race to 2, double illumination and the house matches the pot. There were 15 players. There is a 'handicapped' 9-Ball tourny at P-9-Ball every Thursday at 7:30 SHARP. $10 entry,$50 Added, races to 4, double illumination and paying through 6th Place. Next Sunday at noon is the monthly Shooting Stars 9-Ball tourny, $25 entry, $100 Added, races to 7, double illim., (NO handicap & many GOOD players). Wednesday night at P-9-Ball is 'Ladies Night' and I believe that Ladies get Free Pool and Free Drinks (from 8:00-?). You should call 813-891-1450 for more info (or specific questions). Baker's is downtown, Fatso's is mid-town and there's a handful of good rooms over in the Clearwater/St. Pete area. I haven't been in the best of health lately and can't keep up with the pace of 8 & 9 ball at this time. I'd be happy to play some one-pocket with you, IF you know how. I usually get to P-9-Ball around noon, before they open (at 3:00 I 'think'-- 11:00 a.m. on Fri.,Sat., and maybe next Sunday). You could call and ask for Tampa Tubby-Bob or Doug to see if I'm there. You can nearly always pick up a game for funsy (or $$$) at P-9-Ball or the other area rooms. Baker's Billiards 226-6541.... Fatso's 931-9792..... C.M.'s Place 727-398-4609 ...... Actually, I plan to go and promote our events, but Bob will be here sometime soon and he would play most any game and one pocket is a favorite.

We are in Holiday Florida just out of Tampa, geez, beautiful weather and I am glad I am not in Chicago now. Looks like we will be spending some time here untill the house sells.

I too am selling a house in Holiday. It is supposed to close on Dec 15. I should be there early in Dec until the 10th. Hope to meet you and Bob while I'm there.

Make sure you price the house high enough. Take the highest price you think you should ask for and add at least $10,000. Prices in that area have increased a great deal.

Watch out for Doug. He specializes in one-pocket.

LOL ... Yeah, some specialty. Saturday, I lost 4 games to ZERO to Dave Hardy. Last week, 5 games to ZERO to Pete Stekol (slow playing cue repairman at P-9-Ball). Before that, I lost 4 games to ZERO to my buddy Justin Pettis and previous 'C' player and one pocket 'student' of mine Andy Rodriguez has beat 3 to ZERO and 4 to ZERO (FOR THE CASH). My best outting lately came against roomowner Ken Miller, who dislikes one-pocket because he is in a chair and can't reach some shots in the middle or in the stack. Kenny was kind enough to only spank me 10 games to FOUR. If I specialize any more, I won't even have to show up at Planet 9-Ball. I may simply phone my ZERO in and 'pay da man'.... imo
I need a BACKER (blind and deaf, would help) (probably dumb, too)

Doug, sorry to hear you're still feeling bad. I'm extremely glad you jumped that piece of garbage Lil Jon on NOLA.com for what he did to your buddy. Guess you heard he and Erman dumped me for 20grand. Lil piece of crap deserves to have his teeth knocked out ! Hump

Yeah, that Lil Jon (John Macias) is a real piece of garbage. He came to Tampa to gamble, but said that he was there to buy a boat and had $25,000 with him. He couldn't find any action at planet 9-Ball, so Ken Miller and I put up $100 each to give him a chance to make some lunch and gas money while he waited. He won a couple of sets.
THEN, he decides to leave town and cashes a worthless check for $500. That's nothing more than stealing from a nice honest roomowner. He's told Ken on numerous occasions that he is sending or HAS sent a 'good' check, but of course he didn't and won't. He's been jerking Ken off for more than 6 months now, but he keeps on gambling. I read on that other forum that he just won $7,500 in New Orleans. He should make that check good.. imo
His wicked ways will catch up with him and he will have to pay the piper. I'm surprised that he still has teeth, after what he did to you. (Say, doesn't the cover of your book The Green Felt Jungle say that you're "The Meanest Player In Town-- Any Town ?")

I’ll be in Tampa on Monday and staying thru Friday. I see that Planet 9 Ball is on Hillsborough Ave., how many miles is it from St Joseph’s Hospital or the corner of Dale Mabry? I don’t know if I’ll get a chance to stop by P9B but I’ll try.

Planet 9-Ball is approx. 3 miles west on Hillsborough Ave., on the left hand side. It's in the Silvermill Plaza.Look for Cody's Steakhouse and the Mobil station on your left and turn in there. It's back in the corner. They open at 3:00 p.m. Mon.-Thurs. (but if I'm there, I'm usually there earlier).... Doug

Apparently, I had my head up a pig's butt, looking for a ham sammich !!
It seems that Planet 9-Ball is SEVEN miles west of Dale Mabey on West Hillsborough. As if I weren't far enough off on THAT, the Mobil station that I said to turn left at has the parking lot all torn up and is now a SHELL station. At least Cody's is 'still' a Steakhouse (but yesterday there was an expose on the news in a segment titled 'Dirty Dining', that showed all the vermin & bugs & code violations). Maybe Cody's will now become a Mobil station.
On a more serious note.... I went to P-9-Ball today to 'attempt'to play one-pocket with Kenny Miller (who beat me 10 games to THREE on our last outting). I agreed to play a race to five, but when Ken had me 4 games to ZERO, I was looking for a razor blade to slash my wrists. I had a couple of beers ( I knew SOMETHING had been missing) and then fought my way back to hill-hill. The deciding game was called on account of rain. I was OK with THAT !
Now, back to your regular scheduled programming.... imo
