Thank You Deno

Cut it out Timberly. There is only one pool player that I ever criticized and it wasn't his playing ability that I criticized. Strictly his policy one time. In fact I praised his playing ability when others didn't.

I am good enough at this game to know how really bad I am and how really great the pros are. I enjoy watching them play and I really don't care who wins. I just enjoy the pureness of the game at their level.

I wish them all well. You too. And the UPA and any other organization.

Our going to watch them play in person is not going to make them successful. Nor is the money we spend significant. The gate take probably didn't cover the cost of the dresses that the hostesses wore. The only way the IPT can make it is if they get a TV contract. With it they will prosper. Without it KT will leave and they (the pool players) will return to the days of old.

Tentative plans are in to run the IPT through 2008. But nothing is set in stone and at any time if KT sees that things are not working the way he planned then he can pull the plug.

I sure hope his vision is sound. And his goals are reached. And all the players become wealthy. But in the meantime, I, and everyone else will be treated to some very good pool. And I plan to enjoy it.

Merry Christmas,

Jake

You still don't get it. <shaking head> I'm not nor was I a UPA cheerleader by any means. There were plenty of things that I didn't/don't like about it. HOWEVER, it was the ONLY thing out there as far as a men's pro tour. I wasn't trying to support the UPA, I was supporting men's pro pool. You live in FL & you have the 10 ball tourney, YAY for Jake. I live in PA & we don't have anything. So, in order to see pool at the pro level, I had to go to UPA tourney's. Something is better than nothing.... the UPA might not be perfect but at least it provided us with a few tournaments a yr that had more pro caliber players than anything else out there. I also try to support the regional tours by going to as many Tiger Planet Pool tourney's that I can go to. They're out of the MD, VA, DC area but I drive out to support them & the pool rooms that welcome them as much as possible. There are some really good players on that tour & you're subject to see Shawn Putnam & Mike Davis there at any time. BUT, those tourney's still aren't full of pro caliber pool players. Now that the IPT is here, I can spend my money going to that, so long as all of them aren't in Vegas... I have a mon-fri job & I have to support myself.

I'm a fan of pool. I'm not a fairweather fan. I'll support it as best as I can to help keep it around. UPA, Regional tours, IPT...that's a fan. Picking & choosing because one organization hurt your feelings... that's fairweather. The players had no choice but to play under the UPA... you should've supported them but instead you turned your back on them because of something they had no control over. (I have no idea what you're talking about not being able to get autographs at a UPA tourney. The players are always walking around & have always been accessible at any tournament). Jake, you remind me of someone else on here that I made a post about that was deleted.... just like that person did with the IPT, you have talked bad about pool players, and now here you are, pool's biggest fan!

We're going to have to agree to disagree. I don't think you'll ever get it, and I'm not spending anymore of my time trying to explain myself & my actions to someone who, A) doesn't get it, B) has proven that they're two faced when it comes to the sport.

WOW!! Very nicely said. So you're not just another pretty face...
