Thank You Eric

I got sued for punching someone when I was in high school. My dad told me to tell the judge the other guy swung at me first (I was just going to say the whole thing didn't happen- the guy I hit was a world class jerkoff).

Judge: "Did he hit you?"

"No."

Judge: "Did you hit him?"

"Yes"

Judge: "You lose. You're lucky he didn't sue for punitive damages because he could of sued you for up to 1500 dollars"

I just had to pay for the doctor visit to straighten out his nose (150 bucks). After this happened though, anytime I start getting pissed at someone, I ask myself "Is this really worth getting sued for?" and usually let the violent urges subside.

I don't think Eric would need thousands in lawyers fees unless he really hurt FL. He might get an assault rap and have to pay some punitive $$ though.

I concur with your opinion vis-a-vis Eric smacking FL. I'm 60 years old and never was much of a fighter. However, if I went off like that on somebody like FL did Eric for all those years ... well, if I got popped a good one, I'd just say "I deserved it". If FL has acted like this all his adult life I'm a little surprised being punched out is the worst consequence he has suffered.

It was great talking with you as well...looks like your friend Kerry ordered a cue Sunday as well. Maybe we see each other at the Open this yr?
 
I would love to be able to say "Can't we all just get along?" but ultimately, as one who finds himself getting into heated situations often, all I can say is that some people just downright deserve what they get. I will make no cliams here as to here deserved or didn't deserve what.

I will only say that sometimes, people tend to look at a given situation and say that violence is no answer and while, for the most part, this is true, some people really cannot be reached. Not even a stiff, swift punch to the head can make a difference of any kind. HOWEVER, it can be an excellent (and sometimes the only) form of retribution against an individual who not only deserves it but desperately screams for it!

I know nothing of Fast Larry or Eric but, if racial slurs were brought into play at this time or any other time, than Larry has proven himself to be of low character and not worthy, in my eyes, of any respect.

As for whether or not Larry hit Eric's girlfriend, I'll only say this... I do not know the details. It may or may not have happened. But if Larry did, in fact, hit a woman, then he has no leg to stand on and in my opinion got off easy. If anyone ever had a problem with me, that is one thing. Chances are, I deserved it! But if they used that animosity to threaten, intimidate, or physically assault my girlfriend, that man would have been checking out of a hotel and into a hospital and I would have left the convention center in handcuffs.

WOW, Yeah, Larry got off very lightly if this was the case. I would have tried to put him in the hospital if he hit my GF/wife.
 
I've been on RSB since the 1990s. In the last 3-4 years, I've read, and Google surely has archived, Fast Larry not just insulting Eric in many ways, but literally threatening him -- with martial arts, visits from "Vinny and Guido" or something similar, and a gun time and time again.

Jury's are comprised of people, not all of them white. Before you judge Eric or his prospects in court, go read FL's nonsense at RSB and ask yourself what the odds are of the majority of a jury siding with Fast Larry.

It's also legal to hit first if you have a justified fear of imminent attack. While FL seems to be all talk, there's likely more than enough basis -- in writing at RSB -- for Eric to credibly claim that once FL was within a feet of him, he felt he was about to be attacked. By Eric's account, it was a 1-2 punch sufficient to end the threat, not a full-blown beating.
