in my opinion there should only be three different types of games on television. we must think like a person, who doesn't care for pool, who never watches pool, and usually won't stop at pool when flipping channels. there is NO use in preaching to the choir about how great pool is to us folks here who LOVE pool!!! that's just plain ol dumb. now, with this thought in mind here are the games that should never be shown on national television.
1-one pocket~~ although to us folks, this game could be highly engaging, to "normal" folks it's worse than spending an hour in a insurance meeting, it's BORING!
2-snooker~~ long tedius, and full of dullness, to the average person, they rather be boiled in hot water, than watch one frame's worth.
3-3-cushion billiards~~ here is a game, that the normal folk would tune out faster than a speeding bullet train! too confusing and taxing, and with no shot clock a snoozer for sure.
so then, what are thee three games for television around the world, now and forever?
1- trick shots~~ whether your 2 or 102 years old, you gotta LOVE this stuff!!!! with trick shots, people that DO NOT LIKE POOL will watch! it's amzing how many people are amazed at the old stand-by choo-choo shot, and other good o'l shots. trick shots crosses genders, with mothers and daughters watching as well, as grand pa's and teenagers, it's UNIVERSAL, people from ALL walks of life really ENJOY a good trick shot, therefore, this must be on national teleivision.
2- 8-ball~~ this game is known to all pool players, and non-pool players can learn the rules on television within 2 mins. people want to know more about 8-ball, how to improve, and what strategy's are available to them, it would be good tv. here's to the IPT and promoting 8-ball, the right way.
3-7-ball~~ the most exciting GO! aggressive game today. forget 9-ball with it's boring kicks and safe's and all sorts of dumb jump shots, how about if you miss it's ball in hand?????????? now THAT'S a sped up game!! exciting,aggressive and FAST!
well, those are my favorite games to observe on television, once these three gems are shown often pool will reign as the #1 sport again!
