Not really a shock result when you think back to Ricky's excellent 147 recently and he has played well, one of those players who can spring a surprise when all is going well.

Ronnie Splutters To Life :

It was more of a shock to find out that Ronnie actually bothered to turn up for the tournament.

The bookmaker odds for the final :

http://bettingzone.oddschecker.com/other-sports/snooker/china-open

Maguire 4/11 Ebdon 2/1 suggests a Maguire win by a few frames but Ebdon has a habit of sending opponents, spectators and viewers into a deep sleep so stock up on caffeine supplies, have a few matchsticks at the ready to keep the eyelids open and have an alarm clock nearby set to go off every few minutes or so,just in case it goes all the way.;):D

Snooker Marathon

The evening session of the final has been going on for an hour.

Ebdon 6 Maguire 2

They only played 6 frames in the afternoon session in a best of 19.
Hours to go before they sleep.

If Ebdon wins he gets into the Premier League - with a 20 second time clock.
He takes longer to chalk his cue :D

As much as I hate slow players with a passion, I've never minded Ebbo - partly for beating Hendry in the WC final that time, but mainly because I headbutted him in the chest when alighting a train in Wellingborough once.

Come on Ebbo!

Ebdon holds off Maguire in China :

Be grateful for small mercies, the final only lasted just over 7 and a half hours,it could have been longer.Hauled off with 3 frames to play of the scheduled first session, constant comfort breaks but to come through a qualifier round and then a wildcard and end up winning the tournament takes a bit of doing.I wonder what the swearie Maguire used when he ran out of position was but at £250 fine suggests it was an expensive one.

So well played to Peter Ebdon.

Hmm,

Alarm clock more like set to ring for every 20 seconds. How many people thought their screen froze,or the computer had crashed but it was just Peter Ebdon on a comfort break or lining up a pot etc.I know I did.:D
