The making of a carbon fiber shaft.

I have heard there are basicaly two types or carbon fiber rod used in the making of a pool cue shaft. is one clearly more desireable? I don't really remember what they are but rolled and impregnated seem to come to mind. It's interesting and I wish I could remember what I read. Anyway, my main thought is this, When making a carbon fiber shaft does one order a tapered rod that they then add a ferule some sort of foam or what ever else to dampen sound and vibration and a joint to. Or do they order a rod and taper it finish it etc.. as they would with a wood blank making it to their personaly desired specs. Can I design one have someone make it just the way I want it like I can with wood?

Thanks guys

Yes, absolutely.

I do just that but I am not accepting orders for them at this time, too much fun.

It's far from the way you have described it but it's all good, more and more people are doing as I am.

Jayman,
Here's an example of the different sizes of CF cue blanks that are available from one large manufacturer. Check your DM's for more info.

Gary,
Got it. I had no idea. That's really something.
Thank you

Jay, You have lots of choices to choose from but that's not designing, there's no tapering of the blank, no changing of the pro taper and your restricted by the sizes of blanks..very different than wood. Example: 11.8 mm @ 31" has a joint diameter of .848 that's .004
overhang per side on you common .840 joint this is what I do everyday and have done since 2019 dealing direct at the time with the manufactures.
