i beleive seperatly the europeoan players are better than the americans, however, america keeps winning as a team. maybe the usa has better team work?

I just finished watching tapes of the Mosconi Cup and it sure was an interesting match. Horsten Hohman looked bad yet he is the 9-ball world champion. Charlie Williams didn't win a match yet he won the next two tournaments he entered. Strickland couldn't win a game against Davis yet I doubt anyone thinks that will happen again. At the level those guys play I really think it is a toss up as to who will win on any given day.

Jake,

I didn't see this last Mosconi Cup in Vegas but I did see the one that took place in England last year. Seems to me that a race to 5 in 9 ball is a poor measure of one player's ability to beat the other player. At the level these guys play, all of them are capable of breaking and running 5 racks. I know there was alternate break but still, that's a pretty short race imho.

Mosconi Cup

Races to five are very short. What I enjoyed about watching the Mosconi cup was that I got to see legitimate champions absolutely choke under the pressure...I am defeinately not any better but it is good to know that they are "human".

Also, in measuring the true speed of the pros I think it extremely humbling to watching them practice. Last year at the DCC I watched Ronnie Alcano "Little Efren" run rack upon rack of 9-ball, and then two racks of rotation. It was absolutely amazing.

They only look easy to play when they are being beat, especially on television. I noticed when I went to the World Championships in Cardiff in 2001 how good they were in practise but didn't always produce the same form on the match table (to be fair though, it was the start of the tournament).
