the original version of straight pool.

Hi,
I was talking with an old friend and fellow straight pool enthusiast a few days ago. I brought up the original game, which is not the current "continuous" version. I can't remember where I read about the game and the rules. I did a search here, but came up short. The only other place that seems logical to me is Mosconi's autobiography. I read this recently [ I think Bob Jewett recommended it], but it was a library loan and the book isn't at hand. It was a very good read, by the way.
If anyone knows where to find the rules for the original game, I'd appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Dave

I believe a BCA rule book should have it. But if I remember correctly the rules are the same as 14.1 except there is no break ball. So the balls are re-racked after all 15 balls have been pocketed. Every rack started with the standard safety break, which is why the break ball was eventually added to reduce the safety play that would begin every rack.

That one addition changed everything. 14.1 is one of the most difficult games you can play, but in it's original form it's very easy.
