Also - I definitely need a wrap on this thing. I never noticed before because I only used my break cue to break... and never spent enough time on it to notice... but my grip hand sweats enough to bother me. Tiger's getting some work in a couple months

I'll try that. My wife hates when I use the dish towels though lol. I'll have to buy some microfiber ones

#1. The review makes me want to try a Varney Cue.
#2. This reminds me of the Azbilliards.com billiard towel that I've been meaning to have made (prototype). I've got a design in mind and most importantly, the color. I've already spoken with Mike about this so don't try and steal my idea.

So, is your cue longer on both shaft and butt, or is the shaft longer? 59.5" is 1.5" longer. If it is only the shaft, then 1.5 " has to be removed to make it 58", and then may be resize the tip, and retaper a bit; if it is 1.5" longer on both butt and shaft, you only need to remove less than 1" on the shaft, which means he can cut the ferrule off and redo a new one.

Have you measure it with the cue completely tightened? I am asking because this happened to me before. I have made this silly mistake when I measured one cue years ago.

I think if Mr. Varney says the cue is 58", it is very unlikely that you have received it at 59.5" long. He must have measured it before sending it out.

The shaft and butt are equal, so I'm sure it's a matter of taking off equal amounts. They'll stay equal length and both be .75" shorter. He's the cuebuilder, I'm sure he can figure it out

When I'm putting it together it starts to get harder and harder to screw it in as I get closer to the joint. It feels like someone somehow got a 314 shaft onto a house cue

That is exactly how a wood/wood, big pinned (Radial?) cue should go together!! I think it instills a certain confidence when you're putting the cue together and it feels so solid. I completely understand this, as my cue goes together exactly the same way! Feels good, doesn't it?!
