The way we play, does our style depend on our mood, or our personality. When we are in a bad mood, do we try shots the normally we wouldn't. Our does our personality play a part also, if we are an aggresive person type person do we tend to go for the low percentage shot or maybe play the safe. What do all of you think, based on your exspriences.

The way we play

I think you are on to something. The mental part of the game to me is big. If you can't make the the right choices when needed, watch out. It seems the player with the ability to not let outside distractions bother them seem to remain in control of their game better. I've been working on it. but every time I have a "brain fart", it costs me. Just something else to try to work on, although sometimes it seems like a full time job!

I think I get more upset at the pool table when something is bugging me. I mean if I have had some worries over money, women, relatives or whatever, I tend to be very negative at the table even without thinking it. It's kind of subconscious upset. And I think it's weird because pool is one of the only things I can let all thoughts about normal life away and concentrate on pool only and the current match/set. IMHO, the subconscious level of mind effects the everyday life more than we think...

john, I think this seprates the good players from the great players...great players play great in a bad mood, good mood, bad day, good day. good players play great when in a good mood good day....but i dont know im just a kid :D

So this is leading right into... What do you do specifically to put yourself in the correct frame of mind to play?

This goes right along with my concentration problem that I've discussed on this forum. But I do have really good days when concentration doesn't seem to be a problem.

What can you do in preparation to help yourself have a great day?
