Palmer Brunswick Original

My quest for Palmer Brunswick cues continues. This is my third Palmer Brunswick and this one is a "Brunswick Original" with a blue butt and veneered points.

It is in need of a refinish and rewrap, so off it will go.....

Watch this space for "after" pics.

WOW, NICE FIND!!! PLEASE DONT'T REFINISH, INSTEAD TAKE IT TO A NEAR BY LOCAL CUE GUY AND HAVE HIM WASH AND RESET YOUR WRAP, (re-glue and re-press if necessary). YOUR CUE IS IN VERY GOOD SHAPE FOR IT'S AGE AND WILL BE ORIGINAL AFTER CLEANING, more collectible IMHO!!!

I agree. Granted cues look nice when they are refinished as do the rest of your cues you have. A good original cue is worth more than a refinished one. JMO
Thanks,

I appreciate everyone's thoughts and input, but everything looks better in pictures. Even me. :-)

The wrap is shot, so there is no saving it. It is frayed in places and small pieces missing in others.

The finish is also damaged near some of the veneers and the shaft needs to be cleaned, etc.

As good as this cue may appear in the pictures it needs a refinish and rewrap.

I have many unrestored Palmers and never restore a cue just to bring it from 85% to 100%.

Collars

There was a request to see pics of the collars.

The collars on this cue, a Brunswick Original, differ from those on my other Palmer Brunswicks which are identified as Brunswick Customs. Those collars are identical to the collars on Palmer Second Catalog Model B's.

It's a Wrap

Just a quick picture about cleaning the wrap.

If you have not done this before, cleaning a wrap is quite easy. I use a mild soap and a damp sponge, trying not to get the wrap very wet. I do it a little bit at a time, letting it dry between stages.

This wrap is still too far gone to be presentable, but this was just one cleaning on half the wrap. Additional cleanings would remove even more of the dirt. It turns-out that this is a green speck line. I did this to see the before and after. a small section of line is missing on the other side and there are dozens of scuffs to the wrap. This cue was really banged around during it lifetime.

I have the same general look and trim rings as your Palmer Brunswick
This cue plays phenomenal.

Nice. Looks like a Palmer Brunswick Original to me. I wonder if the owner had the foil changed by Palmer, or if it is a Palmer Brunswick Original that was leftover, or just a Palmer Brunswick Original that was already assembled at the shop and "Sam" showed-up and requested his name on the foil?

Hmm. Wonders never cease.

Refinish Completed

Just received the cue back from the shop. Scot Sherbine at Proficient Billiards did a fine job, but since the original pics did not represent the unrestored condition of the cue, the new pics might not look a world different.

I find the quirky nature of these Palmer Brunswicks interesting. They are regular production Palmers that can be traced directly to cues in the standard Palmer line, but with a twist: slightly different collars, different butt ring configurations and different inlays on the Lord Brunswick models.

In my experience, it seems that the Palmer Brunswicks were delivered with linen wraps. If anyone has one of these with a Dacron wrap, please share your knowledge.
