First way should be easy and probably happens in other states. Print local tournament results in the local newspapers. Just a short space next to baseball scores, or horse racing that has the name of place, start time, entry fee, and the top three finishing players. It doesnt matter if these are $10/$5 tournies or $50+ tournies.
Second, we need to get some pool halls to put cameras on over a bunch of tables; like the backroom in Hardtimes Sac. Cameras feed to computers to store the data. Take the highlights of all the matchs the top three finishers had; exceptional shots, bad errors, and tough outs. Get a comentator that sounds like the baseball highlight guy on Sports Center; and play a short highlight reel of the winners during Sports Center or another like program.
To the average person, watching pool on TV isnt the most exciting event; but everyone wants to see the players make great shots and see how they won. Another idea is to show the highlights of the entire tourney instead of watching just two people duke it out. Show the turning point of a match and tell the result and move on to the next; so we can see how well these players have been playing all day, not just for one match.
My other idea is a bit more far fetched. Take 4 touring semi pro players, and video them in the tournaments of the tour. Every weeks show they are in a different city... so people can see the ups and downs of pool, and get to know the people behind the robotic strokes.
Any of yous guys think it could happen? Or am I really just insane?
