Looking to see what people prefer. The Second generation 314, The Tiger X Ultra, or something else. And your reason and how you rate the hit.

I must of posted this too late last night. I will bump one time to to see if i get some replies.

there's more than enough poll options - why didn't you put the likes of the OB-1 as an option on it's own?

anyway I voted for the OB-1.

I played with predator 314's and when they stopped making them I bought 2 314 2nd gen blanks and Paul Mottey matched them to my cue and I love the way they play. I use the older version of the Moori Slow tips on my shafts and this combination works for me. I like the 314 2nd gens. better than my original 314's.

Well I did. I only put in the other section because i own one and know I will either go with the 314 or possibly the Tiger X. So I need the opinions of others that have used them.

Tiger X Ultra

I've had my X shaft for 3 months now and can say that I really like the
feel of the feed back though the cue. I used to play with a Pred and
yes the deflection was very low the hit was dead feel wise.

The Tiger on the other hand may deflected more but the hit is way more
like a good high end shaft, and the phenolic insert though not a new
inovation not only sweetens the hit, but makes a great sound as you
strike the ball. JMHO:wink:

Left Lam shafts and went back to my old growth solid maples about a year or so ago. Couldn't be happier. :)

Looks like Tiger is ahead but i also am seeing many people voting for "other" with out saying what it is and why they prefer them.

I voted for Other, as in the OB-1. The shaft seems to play really good for me, the only thing I don't like is the soft hit to it compared to the 314, but oh well its what I'm better with.

This is kind of why I am asking. Are you using the Sniper tip? I have snipers on all my current shafts. they alone soften the hit but are well worth the price you pay for them. I am thinking about getting a older Schon R2 with an Ivory ferrule. I know this will hit a ton and I don't want to lose too much of that. But I also want to upgrade it to a laminated. So this is where the opions of AZBers comes in.

No no no, I can't let this die without answers. I need to know what shaft will help keep the integrity of a old Schon and keep my deflection down.

Perhaps you might suggest what 'your' looking for specifically rather than what other people like. :)

All the lam shafts will keep deflection down.

Intergrity . . . only you can answer that too. ;)

Good luck in your search.

I forgot about the mezz, what is it that you like about it?

Try a hybrid pro 2. It's what Pagulayan and Orcullo uses. What I like about it is that it has a low deflection, but a little higher than a predator 314-2. But the amount of spin and feel you'll get is worth it. It's like a schon but low in deflection. Mezz just recently introduced a new shaft called hybrid alpha. I haven't tried it yet though.

Solid hit, help keep the cues over all balance and that nice sweet sound you hear when you strike a CB with a Ivory ferrule (I know it'll be hard to keep that).

Mezz uses a Solid Maple Shaft with a Carbon Fiber insert.

Sounds a lot like the I shafts by Mcdermott. I guess those would be considered in the other section if someone like them as well and there are 3 types too.

IMO , that's a tall order with a Laminated shaft. Pretty much also why I am back with solid wood , but I know this thread isn't about that so I won't bring it up again. :)
