Tip replacement Questions

I am going to try my hand at replacing my first tip and have a few questions.

First, I have access to an industrial LeBlond metal lathe. I've watched several of the videos on the web and have a good idea of what to expect. I assume that I'll have to make some sort of adaptor for the shaft. Any suggestions on what I should use or what material I should make the adaptor from?

Next, what rpm would be optimal for cue tip replacement?

Any other suggestions or insight would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Randy

Make your adapter or collet from delrin . you'll need to support the other side of the shaft out of the spindle so it doesn't flop around . around 700 rpm should be about right . First cut towards ferrel until you're almost down to it . Use a sanding board about 2" wide with 320 grit to level tip with ferrel . Then progress to 400 grit , then 600 grit and then wet side of tip with spit and use a quality cloth to lightly squeeze side of tip to burnish . I use a tip trimmer to shape . It's like a concave file that holds a strip of 100 grit garnet paper . Angle about 35 degrees to get great shape . Good luck...;)
