There's seems to be a lot of threads about "best lathe to install tips", other things like that.

Well, the lathes are designed to do more than just retip- they recondition shafts, install tips, installs ferrules, and many other repairs.

If you're looking to just put on your own tips with a quality tool, try this...

It's pointless to try to compare the "cue repair lathes" on the market if all you're looking for is to install a few tips. Compare them if you're going to be doing multiple types of repairs.

If that tool didn't cost about as much as a mini-lathe I would probably get one. I've heard it does a great job once you learn how to use it properly though.

I was hoping that the price would be mentioned... the "cue repair lathes" don't seem to be out of line on the price, considering everything that you can do beyond a tip install.
