I just picked up a couple of old Titlist once piece cues (prior to the Hoppe's). One has a point with veneers that are delaminating near the end about 1/2 inch. I would like to have the cues made into custom sneakies, but don't know if this one would work out. They are fat, but I don't know how fat, and how far the delaminating is occurring.
Would regluing the veneers work, and if so, how would the glue react when a finish is put over it?
ANother question: If the end of the points are not really useless to make a butt, do the veneered splice points go deep enough to consider having it turned down to make a shaft? I think it would look really neat, and have never seen one like it before, at least not with a Titlist. It would also allow you to adjust on the lathe to help even out the points if they are a little off.
Thanks for any assistance you may provide.
